Why it was recalled
A loose or detached oil filter can allow oil to escape from the engine and contact the rear tire or road surface, increasing the risk of a crash.
What was recalled
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain BMW Dealer Service Part Oil Filters designed to fit S1000RR, M1000RR/R/XR, HP4 (Race) motorcycles, and with part number 11427721779-04. The vibration frequencies from certain high-revving four-cylinder motorcycle engines can cause the oil filter to unscrew during riding.
What to do
Dealers will inspect and replace the oil filter as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 14, 2025. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.. Follow the official notice for full instructions.
